Disposable Newsletter: December 12, 2019

Welcome back to the newsletter, highlighting what’s new at the blog since the last update. I’ve been having fun attending the AGU Fall Meeting, and I hope you all have had engaging activities lately as well.

Merzbow "Pulse Demon" vinyl

I’ve got some more album release news since I sent out the last newsletter: if you like noise, the artist Merzbow has another reissue, and if you like Swans I’ve reviewed the new album, Leaving Meaning.

Two music-industry leader types shared insights on the future of the billion-dollar, mega-corporation music business last month. Rolling Stone (where I got the photo from) ran a piece on it and I pulled a few takeaways

Screen grab from a Misery Index music video

Misery Index has been getting on best-of-year lists with its latest album, Rituals Of Power, and the band has many promotional videos online for the record. I’ve collected them for your viewing pleasure.

A photo from the book "Frame of Mind"

The Kojo Nnamdi Show had a great episode in July that was full of info about women in Washington D.C. punk and specifically about photographer Antonia Tricarico’s new book, Frame Of Mind. Helpful details are at the blog

A picture of the home vinyl recorder, Phonocut

An exciting development in music equipment is the home vinyl recorder called Phonocut. You can cut your own vinyl records one at at time with it. It sounds like fun so I gathered some info for the blog

A screen grab of the "interesting merchandise" section of this blog

Finally, as I mentioned last time, I gave the blog a bit of a facelift. I added links to featured blog tags and also to interesting music merchandise I come across on the web. Currently, the blog tag is books and the merch item is a Beatles turntable.

More info on what’s new at the blog next time. Thanks for reading!
