Merzbow “Pulse Demon” reissue coming up

Earlier this year, Relapse Records reissued the classic noise album from Merzbow, Venereology. Now the label is following up with another classic from Merzbow, Pulse Demon.

Like last time, the album has been remastered by James Plotkin. The first track off the album, “Woodpecker No. 1,” is posted for your listening pleasure, and there’s a harsh video element to go with the experience. Note, however, that there’s more to Merzbow than what might sound to a passing listener and viewer as just a bunch of noise.

In an interview with Lawrence English for Self-Titled Magazine, Masami Akita (the man behind Merzbow) explained that he is straight-edge and vegan, and said “Merzbow supports the stances of vegan anarchism, anti-livestock, anti-religion, anti-anthropocentrism, anti-economism, anti-commercialism, etc. If people are interested, please read my book Cruelty Free Life.”

Pulse Demon will be out on November 29, 2019 on vinyl and digital. Different vinyl versions and accompanying shirt designs are up for pre-order at Relapse. D.U. is looking forward to it!
