#WeMakeEvents raises awareness on the state of the music industry

There’s been a few movements that attempt to pressure elected officials to help prop up the music industry during the pandemic. First there was #LetTheMusicPlay, followed by #SaveOurStages, and now there’s #RedAlertRESTART, which asks people to post on social media and request that their representatives in Congress support the RESTART Act and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. An explainer video is below.

According to the organizers, on September 1st, “trade bodies, businesses, unions, and live events workers” lit up “their venues, homes, and cities red in over 1,500 locations across North America to raise public and media awareness in support of the live events sector.”

Here’s hoping these folks get some support. More information is at the #WeMakeEvents website.
