“The Truth That Sat Behind The Door” hip-hop comp

D.U. doesn’t often write about rap or hip hop, but on the rare occasions that we did in the archive zine, it was mostly to review a CD-R from Lord Betta. Well, that rapper recently posted online about a Washington, D.C. area compilation he participated on called The Truth That Sat Behind The Door. It’s up for free streaming by the D.C. chapter of this somewhat confusing outfit called Guerilla Republik.

Lord Betta, and as well as one of his local collaborators OOcyn, is from the old school but mixes in some more contemporary style. Luckily, they and the other folks on the 11 tracks of the compilation don’t mix that in too much, but demonstrate various sounds nonetheless. It’s worth checking out, at audiomack.
