Swans launches fundraiser for new album “Is There Really A Mind?”

Michael Gira announced on Facebook this week that he wrote and recorded 10 solo acoustic songs for a new Swans album called Is There Really a Mind?

The concept he described about the new album is that he’s launching a fundraiser through his Young God Records label to rerecord the acoustic material with the full Swans band. Swans fans can participate in the fundraiser and get a physical version of the acoustic album (along with a lot of art extras) and preorder the full version on CD and LP which is planned for a 2023 release.

Full details are at the above link from the Young God site, where Gira also posted snippets of each acoustic track as well as a sort of performance video for the track “The Parasite.” The material sounds like something he’d write and perform.

Swans freaks should move fast: some of the fundraiser options are already sold out.
