The Osaka electronic artist Kiji Suedo first graced my iTunes in 2023 with the Hosek EP, with its tracks being variations on a theme. I keep coming back to Hosek for a spin.
Suedo has since released the Hypnosis EP in February of this year, and you can hear it in the Bandcamp link below.
It’s got three songs and a remix of of the second song at the end. It’s not quite the same as the Hosek EP, shorter and a little more glitchy in places, perhaps. You can get it from the Farbwechsel label digitally at Bandcamp.

The new recording, Velvet Textures, is coming out next month and is similar to the Hypnosis EP in that (in places) it has these shimmering vocals and always that warped quality of an old cassette tape that’s been worn out. Like Suedo’s other recordings I’ve heard, it’s chill, hip music. At over 20 minutes in length, the 5 tracks deliver a lot of sound. The label describes the EP as one that drifts, “where memory folds into motion, and nothing ever quite settles.” That works.
Velvet Textures will be on vinyl and digital on July 11, 2025 from Hobbes Music. There’s no preorder information yet, so keep an eye on the label’s Bandcamp.
