Bands against unauthorized use at RNC

RNC

In the current political climate, many bands have been getting annoyed about politicians using their music without asking. An example of this was Survivor taking exception to a Republican playing “Eye of the Tiger” at an event last year.

Last week, at the Republican National Convention, it was no different: lots of bands and their representatives pushed back on the RNC for either playing recordings of their songs or the convention band covering them. We were going to list examples of this but Tim Chester at Mashable beat us to it.

As Chester writes, Queen is only one of many bands who have released statements and otherwise commented publicly using stern language, and as Erin Strecker writes, even Queen’s label doesn’t like it.
