The Gathering is a band that likes to approach things its own way, and an example of that is the group releasing an EP and album together on the same day. Interference (the EP) and Beautiful Distortion (the album) are coming out at the end of the month from this Dutch band.
Music videos for the new material are below. D.U. is a big fan of The Gathering, so we always welcome news of new music.
“We Rise” from Beautiful Distortion. This one has a traditional sound from The Gathering:
“Stronger” from Interference:
The group started out as what it refers to as gothic metal in the early 1990s and transitioned to trip rock near the end of the decade. Among other accomplishments, the band had one of its albums formatted into a tiny cube as part of the Moon Gallery project and announced that it was sent to the Internal Space Station.
Beautiful Distortion, the band’s first new album since 2013, is up for preorder at the band’s webshop on LP, CD, box set, and as a bundle with the Interference EP. It looks like the EP isn’t available separately, but on the digital side, the band has three singles, “We Rise,” “Stronger,” and “In Colour” (below), the latter coming from Beautiful Distortion, on Bandcamp.
The album and EP are coming out on the band’s label Psychonaut on April 29, 2022. The day before, the band is having some sort of listening party for the releases on YouTube. Watch out for that.
