We last spoke to Jason Hamacher of the band Regents (ex-Frodus, ex-Decahedron) and Lost Origin Productions about his photo exhibit on Syria and Syrian religious chant audio preservation. Since then, he hasn’t let up: in June he’s throwing a “Sacred Voices of Syria Launch Party” for his first record of the chants he recorded, and he’s doing a lot of press about his activities.
In the lead-up to his launch party, Hamacher gave a speech on DIY culture, punk rock in D.C., and his photo series and audio preservation project on Syria. He spoke in between bands at a benefit show for UNICEF Syria at St. Stephen Church in D.C. in May. Video is below.
There’s photos of the show at which Hamacher spoke at our Tumblr.
