Like many people, I hated nu metal (or nü metal) when it was around the first time, and while I can now appreciate parts of it (like the Primitive album by Soulfly or the song “Duality” by Slipknot and its excellent video), I hadn’t really picked up on how the fashion of the genre is again in favor.
The flannel-and-denim grunge look has been back in town for a while, but as Cassidy George writes in GQ, there are now nu metal designer collections and mega deals with fashion brands. A memorable quote from the interesting piece is, “nu metal is like a counter-trend to quiet luxury.”
