Something I want to mention is how disappointed I am with all the sexism in the metal scene. I was moved to say something about it when I was read the thanks list [in a new death metal] album, wherein the singer said that all girl death metal bands suck. Why all these ignorant people in the metal scene have this attitude is either because 1) they feel their masculinity threatened by female musicians that may be better than they are, 2) they feel they can increase their standing by lowering that of others, namely females in the scene, and/or 3) they prefer the company of asinine groupies and girlfriends to that of girls who contribute musically to the scene. All that these sexist people are doing with their drivel is hurting the scene, but they’re too busy with their machismo to realize it. ■
