Conquer “A Worm’s Demise” review

Old-school death metal is alive and well with Conquer (the band calls itself “blackened death metal”). A Worm’s Demise has it all: low growls; blast beats (they’re not the fastest we’ve ever heard, but that just makes it sound more old-school); slow, doomy parts; and some variety: death metal isn’t known for dynamic in the vocal department, for example, but Conquer throws a little variation into the mix, especially on “God is the Destroyer.”

It’s funny: the songs feel like they go on for a long time, but they don’t get old. And the four-piece from Canada is good enough to offer this solid new three-song EP for free download at the Conquer Bandcamp. You can’t beat that.
