Audio interviews for “Off The Record: An Oral History Of Popular Music” posted online

D.U. mentioned the Library of Congress in our last post, since it was throwing the National Book Festival, and we picked up some literature at the fest about the Recorded Sound Research Center, part of the Library’s collection.

In the Center, there’s some material one can listen to online, and of interest to D.U. are the original audio interviews that former Capitol Records/EMI president Joe Smith conducted for his book Off The Record: An Oral History Of Popular Music.

There’s interviews with David Bowie from 1988, David Lee Roth in 1987, Gene Simmons in 1986, Isaac Hayes in 1987, Pat Benetar in 1987, Roger Waters in 1986, and the list goes on.

Check out the Joe Smith Collection.
