A lot happened today in the world of Neurosis. The band announced a live gig, a new album released, and a positive lineup change.
Neurosis is playing the Fire in the Mountains festival in July 2026. This is the only show the band has announced, but after the band stopped playing gigs years ago, this is awesome news. Tickets are on sale now.
The band released a new album on its label, Neurot Recordings, called An Undying Love for a Burning World. I don’t know if the majority of Neurosis fans figured the band would record again, but I wasn’t expecting it. It’s a proper Neurosis record: long, heavy, brutal in its atmosphere, simple in some places, layered in others, gentle and also loud in its anger. The lyrics are unsurprisingly depressing (“Bones are not forgotten / Ground, decayed, and rotten,” from “Mirror Deep”). The album kind of sounds like it’s in the direction of the latter several records the band has released, say, after A Sun That Never Sets. The new release is an awesome album and, although there’s songs here that use familiar Neurosis structures, it sounds new.
Joining the rest of the longstanding bandmembers on the album is the new guitarist/singer, Aaron Turner. Neurosis fans will need no introduction to Turner and I’m sure they’re regarding this addition as making perfect sense.
The band packed all that news into a short promotional video called Spring Equinox 2026, below.
Where to Get the New Neurosis album
You can listen to the whole album at the band’s website or at various streaming services which are linked there. The record is also on preorder for physical versions: CD, cassette, and double LP. It’s also up for digital download at Bandcamp but also from the label directly.
