The first thing that struck me about Motion and Pictures by the band Mirrors is the understated, arty album sleeve. It sets a proper tone for the record, which contains plenty of unusual, off-kilter synths and other sounds and kind of goes back and forth between mellow and soulful to more indie-ish and energetic.
(Personally I think the latter is better; see “Sinistry,” “Spasmatic,” and the surprising “Knockoff.”)
The band has an excellent music video for the second track, “Gunshot Glitter”:
Motion and Pictures is out now on Pravda Records on CD and download, and the LP is up for preorder.
