Open letter protesting AI training on copyrighted works gains signatories

Graphic of a bunch of AI logos.

AI continues to be a controversial subject. Close to 23,000 writers, actors, and musicians, not the least of which being Thom Yorke, Robert Smith, Billy Bragg, and Anne Dudley, and numerous groups like the Recording Academy, Music Workers Alliance, RIAA, and SoundExchange, have signed an open letter protesting the vacuuming up of their protected works to train AI.

As I found out myself, anyone can sign on to the letter, which is set up at a plain website.

It’s not just letter-signing either. Major music labels have sued the makers of the AI apps Suno and Uido, Danny Gallagher writes at Endgadget.

Read about other open letters here at the blog.
