“Justice at Spotify” campaign launched by Union of Musicians and Allied Workers

We’re fans of the death metal band Wormed around here, and saw that the guys shared a link on social media about the Justice at Spotify campaign, which is calling on Spotify “to deliver increased royalty payments, transparency in their practices, and to stop fighting artists.”

Spotify is used by many artists large and small, but not all of them are fans of its practices, or its attitude, especially after its CEO said that, “obviously, some artists that used to do well in the past may not do well in this future landscape, where you can’t record music once every three to four years and think that’s going to be enough,” earlier this year.

The campaign, launched by the Union of Musicians and Allied Workers, or UMAW, has over 16,000 signatories and counting. At the campaign website, you can sign on if you’re so inclined, read the full list of demands, and see which other artists have signed.
