Deadguy deserves all it gets with “Near-Death Travel Services”

Near-Death Travel Services is an odd title for a record, but it’s in the Deadguy style. And it’s a hell of a comeback record. The band hadn’t done anything for decades, and then decided to get back together and re-start taking names: they released a live record (Buyer’s Remorse: Live from the Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest) and now this album of new material.

Near-Death Travel Services has been getting rave reviews and it’s easy to hear why. That mixture of hardcore attitude and metal chops that the band uses to record tumbling, loud, punch-in-the-gut songs with pissed-off lyrics (“I don’t see a happy ending, do you? / I don’t see a solution, do you?”) still delivers for Deadguy.

The band put out a handful of videos for the album, starting with “Kill Fee,” below. Deadguy has a funny sense of humor, which comes out in the music videos.

And “New Best Friend”:

And “Knife Sharpener”:

And finally the lyric video for “War With Strangers”:

Near-Death Travel Services came out earlier this year on CD, cassette, LP, and digital from Relapse Records. Give it a try and consider getting a copy—it’s worth it!
