Dark Angel put out some classic high-speed and note-packed albums from 1985 to 1991 that gave every band a run for their money and some of which I loved and still have in the collection. More recently the band got back together to play shows, and now Dark Angel has an imminent, brand new album, Extinction Level Event.
Good news is Dark Angel is backing the new record with a tour. The group already went through Europe and the U.S. and Canada leg starts on September 5, 2025, the release date for the album. Links to tickets are up now.
How’s the record, though? Let’s see. The first single is the title track, below.
The second single, “Circular Firing Squad,” is out too, below.
I think this second single shows off the classic sound of Dark Angel more than the first, with some new twists. Indeed, four members from the old days are in the band now, all these years later: Gene Hoglan, Eric Meyer, Mike Gonzalez, and Ron Rinehart; the newer member is guitarist Laura Christine.
Extinction Level Event is coming out on Reversed Records on CD, LP, and collector’s editions. It’ll also be on digital.
