New trends in the music industry: digital and physical

Over at the Washington Post, Derek Hawkins reports that CDs and vinyl are outselling digital downloads, according to a report by RIAA.

Revenue from digital downloads is way down, and physical product revenue is also down, but not as much. Meanwhile, growth in the industry comes from paid music subscription services. CD shipments are down, while vinyl sales are up.
