Genocide Pact: demo review and live video from D.C.

With a mix of the old way and the new way, Genocide Pact’s demo is on cassette, but it’s also on Bandcamp for free. And old is a good way to describe their death metal sound—D.U. was surprised at how old school is their style. There’s lots of mid-paced riffs, and lots of riffs in general. The way the Washington, D.C. band puts together the songs is unpredictable.

The production is dirty and raw, with downtuned guitar and bass and guttural vocals. The demo almost sounds swampy. Since there’s two-thirds of D.O.C. in this band, they wouldn’t have it any other way.
