D.C. Punk Archive launched: photos

A “special collection” at the D.C. Public Library, the D.C. Punk Archive seeks to document the history and culture of punk in the nation’s capital through books, videos, photos, show fliers, record collections, zines, posters, and other goodies.

In good fashion, the volunteers and staffers from the library running the archive hosted a punk show in the basement of the library to inaugurate the project. The packed show promoted not only the music the project is archiving, but also DIY culture: they made buttons and screened shirts with the archive logo and put together handouts on proper archiving methods.

More photos from the event are below. And there’s more info on this ambitious project at its website.
